Kaj Ard, was born in the archipelago of southwest Finland.  Lives in Hanko, the most southern city of Finland. Studies – Gerlesborg Art school, Sweden (1984-86). He paints in acrylics on different materials, usually abstract.

 

In Kaj Ard’s paintings you can sense the passing of time. The starting point is often the structure of nature, rough surfaces, lines and colors.

 

Unusual materials and old wooden pieces found on daily walks, inspire the artist.

 

The painting process often starts from a structured surface - layers after layers of colors, adding and off scraping, using all kind of tools. Though acrylic is the main technique, it’s often mixed with materials as plaster, paper and canvas.
