Francesco Cusumano was born in Carini, Palermo Sicily in 1964. He studied languages at the Technical Tourism School in Palermo. His passion for art emerged early on. Painting has been a part of his life since he was a little child; paper and colours were his preferred toys.

 

His paintings are the product of a constant search and the journey of his spirit. Sometimes a plan, a goal in mind is pushed into the distance by obstacles and unexpected events. One travels on detours. If you deviate from the planned, you have to improvise. The same applies to a painting that suddenly becomes completely different from what was originally planned. Improvisation leads him to the end result he didn't know he was headed for.

 

Through reflection and with his goal in mind, he explores the horizon in search of new directions and spaces. The colours that awaken certain feelings and memories in him guides him. Grey tones help him to separate or bundle different nuances. And he keeps walking, continues to paint, because the goal is still ahead of him. The canvas absorbs the paint and a new path reveals itself.
