Jun Yang

Jun Yang was born and raised in Seoul, South Korea, but San Francisco has been his home for the past 10 years. The city inspires him and his art with its amazing cultural diversity, its celebrated urban landscape and natural beauty, and the support and protection it provides him as a gay artist. He is a self-taught, versatile artist with a broad range of skill sets. He uses a wide variety of tools and materials to create art pieces in a variety of sizes and locations, including large and small scale murals. He has shown his work in numerous national and international exhibitions. Recent exhibits include San Francisco City Hall, Kunsthaus Graz(Austria), and galleries in Seoul, Korea.

His work evokes emotions and refracts them through his use of space and colors. His art speaks to viewers in a universal way, transcending the need fora common language. Each piece is incomplete until the viewer contributes their own context to the conversation.

Bright colors have been one of the most crucial elements of his art. For him, mixing colors references to his life experiences and also refracts his feelings. Recently, he has been obsessed with combining neon colors and new shapes and layers. This allows him to go deeper than just creating a beautiful painting. It allows him to express the way he sees the world. He mainly paints with acrylic, acrylic inks and oil.
