Patrick Hamer (37) is Dutch, born in Maastricht, and has been making art for over 20 years. In the beginning especially in his head where it is very busy with ideas. He sometimes wrote down those ideas but then did nothing with them.

 

By looking at art in large museums and especially in small galleries and by getting inspiration on the street and in the world, it really started to bubble: “Only at the beginning did have something like this: can I actually do that or is it nice enough and that is why I doubted my dream of making art myself.”

 

But he was really touched by paintings and other objects. In this way he discovered that he could express his feelings and emotions in his paintings and that he could clear his mind while making art. He likes to use his own techniques and materials in his art. He likes to work with syringes, they inspires him.

 

In 2019 he was the winner of the UWV Art Congress and received the jury prize and public prize with "We are soldiers".
